"But For a long while...they sang only each alone...or but few together, while the rest hearkened." - The Silmarillion
Here I have tried to show the Ainur singing together. Keeping in mind that only those of similar backgrounds would be able to sing together at first.
"For each comprehended only that part of the mind of Iluvatar from which he came. And in the understanding of their brethern...they grew but slowly" - The Silmarillion
I have used nebulas and star fields to represent the Ainur and Maia and in creating their voices I combined elements such as lightning, musical note bars, wave patterns and water ripples.
Strawberries, monarch butterly wings, faun spots, autumn leaves, a cardinal and Georgia O'Keffe's "Oriental Poppies"...were all used to convey the spirit of the three main Ainur that are singing in this image.
(Hopefully...the image will bring to mind Yavanna, Nessa and Vana, the three Ainur closest in tune with nature, harmonizing together)
I have not read The Silmarillion, so I have zero background on the topic. But physics interests me, and the representation of sweeps of musical notes from one light source to another is intriguing. It suggests to me that the song is not actually of sound, but of light.
The Silmarilion, being a narrative based on fantasy...I wanted to use the ideas you picked up on to kinda ground the images in a more scientific way.
To kinda draw analogies between a cosmological telling of creation and a scientific explanation in how exsistance began
From using a big bang approach to depict the creation of the Ainur...to depicting sound and speech with wavelengths and light patterns...I'm realy pleased you tuned into that
Thank you I cant tell you how much I appreciate that....I didnt know if it would be a sucess but people seem to like them so im glad someones "getting" it

Makes me feel like im on the right track.
